The USAID Civil Society Strengthening project celebrated the achievements of its supported NGO, Macedonian Civic Education Center (MCEC), in the implementation of the “Improvement of Education in the Municipalities” project. Over the past two years, MCEC has strengthened the capacity of educational stakeholders in 10 municipalities, and improved cooperation between schools, NGOs and municipality employees.
MCEC worked with 37 primary schools, donated teaching aids and school equipment, and carried out over 70 school renovation projects. The project also helped to develop educational policies that outlined key interventions necessary to improve the quality of education on the municipal level.
The collaboration achieved between the school staff, municipal workers and NGO representatives was, perhaps, the project’s crowning achievement. These partnerships will continue far into the future, and will empower municipalities to assume the leading role in the management of education. |
